The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Cleaning Out My Closet!

On the weekend, upon return from our holiday, I went straight to my closet and started cleaning it out!

For some reason, the gift our holiday gave to me, was the need to donate to those less fortunate.  Even though, my family and I do not take holidays every year (in fact it had been 12 years since we had a week-long holiday) it left me feeling extremely grateful to be able to do so.  I came back with a renewed gift in my heart to give to others.

I spent, approximately 3 hours in my bedroom, going through closets and drawers and finding myself asking this question, “why did I ever buy this to begin with; I’ve never worn it!”  In the bag it went!

After I took a break, my family and I watched American Idol; where they took the group to Hawaii.  I sat there and cried, listening to all the stories of how some of these kids, literally have nothing.  I felt more gratitude for my life, at which time I went back into my bedroom and cleaned out my closet some more!  I then moved to the linen closet and found blankets we did not need and bagged them up!

My heart feels full to be able to donate clothing and blankets to those in need!  I am not one of the richest people in the World, in fact I’m far from it, but by being able to donate what I have, I cannot put a price on how it makes me feel.

We all have things in our closets that have been there because we “figured” we would wear it one day, or we just needed a good dose of “retail therapy”, but really did we “need” it?

The feeling of freedom and peace I feel right now, by donating my clothing to someone in need is a feeling I will forever be grateful for.
