The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Eating Healthy

There is so much truth to the fact that we are what we eat; eating healthy is so very important in our lives.

I learned several years ago (16 years to be exact), when I was caring for my Mom who had Cancer, the importance of antioxidants.  At the time, I didn’t know much about the benefits of antioxidants, until I met with my Mom’s Oncologist.  To be honest, when he opened up and shared his knowledge of “you are what you eat”, I found myself in shock, as I was so used to hearing more about the drugs they were trying to feed into my Mom.  For an Oncologist to look outside of the box and share with me something so very important was a true Gift.

He took me aside and told me, “you need to increase your Mom’s antioxidant intake; this will help her immune system.”  We all know, that when going through chemotherapy, not only is it trying to kill the Cancer, but it tends to damage our other healthy cells.  It is up to us, to do what we can from a nutrient perspective to help our bodies heal as well.

He shed so much light on the topic for me; it wasn’t about changing tradition, or disgracing the fact that my parents both ate meat, it was simply trying to give me options to HELP my Mom live longer.

I forgot to mention, during this conversation, my Mom was considered, “terminally” ill and was not given much time to live.  Now I’m not going to say, “why didn’t someone teach me this sooner”, as that is not what this post is about.  This is about sharing how food, can actually help the process of living a better quality of life.

Once I quickly found more information, quickly put together an intense antioxidant diet for her, I brought her home from the hospital knowing the Doctors had only given her 48 hours to live.

To bring some positive into this story, my Mom actually lived an entire month after I started feeding her a high antioxidant diet.  I was able to have more time with her.

After learning more and more over the years, I have found so many different types of food and supplements that help.  We need this more than ever today!

Building our immune systems, does help.  It may not be a cure, but it does help in one way or another.

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Ayurveda

Last week, one of our tenants, who is originally from India, came to me to say our daily, “good mornings”, at which time we started chatting.

I have always had a passion for India and their beliefs in Ayurveda.  Our tenant, was surprised when I brought up the topic.  In this brief moment, we connected!

We communicated “with each other” the topic of Dosha’s, Ayurvedic Diet, Yoga, Meditation, Ayurvedic Massage, and where we found the best shopping for our groceries.  Living in Northern Ontario, unfortunately, we do not have a large variety to choose from for International grocery shopping, but by opening up with each other, we were able to share.

We found a common ground!

We discussed the importance of balancing Chakra’s; she was shocked to find out I am also a Reiki Master and how I was able to understand Chakra’s.

We both connected in a very important way – Life!

I have always shown appreciation for different cultures; my life has benefited from the knowledge I have gained by taking the time to learn more about different beliefs and different lifestyles.  I live a more calming life because of this 💖

There is so much to gain from Ayurveda; living a balanced life will pave the way to Peace.  I have a very peaceful friendship with our tenant because of this; in fact she is not only a tenant in our building, but she has become a great friend.

There is no room for negativity in life, although it seems to be a constant occurrence.  By finding your own Peace in something special, can only enhance your own life.  This will encourage others to do the same.  We need this in our World!  The more we share, the more it will help.

For me, I’m grateful I found and learned from Ayurveda; it has brought me to a place of Peace in my life.
