The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Quality of Life

Many years ago, 14 to be exact, I was a caregiver for my parents; a life changing experience and one I will never forget.

In that time, we had numerous visits to the Cancer Clinic, the Hospital and eventually to the Hospice.  It seemed, every single time I would meet with an Oncologist or our Family Physician, they would constantly tell me, that it is now about “quality of life” for my parents.

My parents lived a good life, but I found it odd that when my parents couldn’t enjoy life, like they used to, life all of a sudden became about quality.  I understand there are many ways of looking at this, and as a caregiver I gave them the best in care, the best in the time they had left, and the best comfort.  For some reason, the term “quality of life” would not leave my mind.

It was approximately three months after my Dad passed away (my Mom passed away a year before my Dad did) when I had that moment of clarity – Quality of Life should be focused on every single day, not when you can’t enjoy it!

From that moment on, I vowed to myself and my family, we were going to find “quality of life” in every day, even if it was just an hour we set aside, or an entire day every now and then, we were going to make it our goal to have the Gift of Quality.

We make sure to wake up happy and go for the day with a positive quality, a passionate quality, and a peaceful quality.  This has been our foundation for our days, and no matter what comes our way, we make sure we find the quality in the lessons of the day, the quality in relationships, and the quality in memories being made.

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – The Comfort in a Dream

November 2017, we had to say goodbye to our loyal companion; our Husky Wiley.  Wiley passed away due to a blood disorder which came on quite quickly.  Broke our hearts, as he was more than a pet.

Over time, our hearts have healed, although we miss him daily.  One thing Wiley would do, was when our daughter was sick, he would immediately start cuddling her.  It was a sense Wiley had, along with most pets, they are in tune to their families emotions.

The other day, my daughter woke up and told me she had a dream about Wiley.  He had come to her in her dream and started cuddling her as he used to do.  The unique coincidence was that, our daughter woke up with the cold/flu that had been going around.  In Wiley’s passing, he is still bringing comfort.

For us, this dream is confirmation that Wiley is still with us in Spirit; this is comfort to our family, knowing this could be a possibility.  He sent comfort to our daughter when she was needing it the most.

I can’t say that this dream did not bring on more tears in missing Wiley, but they were also tears of happiness for his comforting visit in our daughters dream.

A Gift our daughter had been wanting from Wiley for a very long time!

I wanted to share this story with you, as we know how hard it is to lose a pet; may this post bring you comfort knowing that any pet you may have lost, will still be with you in Spirit.

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Event Planning Update!

We are in the process of planning our 2024 North American Roadshow; it seems like a long ways away, but in reality it isn’t!  When you think about how the Olympics are planned out, and then how soon they show up, it is crazy!

Most of my career has had a component of event planning included in my positions which I held, which I absolutely loved!  I couldn’t wait for the next event to come up so I could get my hands dirty in the planning stages!  I feel like this all over again!

This is the largest event I’ve ever planned, but the difference in the events I planned before, compared to our North American Roadshow Tour, is I’m putting a bit more “passion” into it.  I’ve always planned events from the heart, but our event is based on our passions in life which brings a lot of smiles!  That is for sure!

Mapping out cities, towns, smaller communities, venues, locations to stay (RV parks), and pretty much all the logistics, is where we are at currently.  Being the Free Spirit that I am, I can’t wait to arrive at RV parks (their event rooms), vintage markets, small book stores, coffee shops, and participating in the goodness of these environments!  It is important for me to capture the intimacy of these locations; this is what will be fueling my creativity for documenting our journey for a new “The Good Vibes Only Roadshow” book!!

This event is going to be a lengthy one, as we feel it is important to visit as many locations as possible; who knows maybe we can expand our tour into an endless Tour!  Now that would be AWESOME!!

Thank you so much for following my blog, it means the World to me!

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – One Thought Can Change Everything!

I’ve learned, over the years, how quickly things can change with one thought.  I was raised with strict parents, who would say to me, “think before you speak!”  I wasn’t getting in trouble with my parents, it was just something they would say to me daily, in their attempts to teach me to respect others.

Think of how your words will affect someone.

The truth is, they were right!  When you think of how, if you didn’t think before you spoke, saying the first thing that came to mind could insult someone, would it have been worth it?  Taking the time to listen to someone before you respond, literally saves relationships; saves the line of communication from closing.

I know it is hard to not respond quick, especially to something you may disagree with, we are all human and have strong opinions at times; however, this is an exercise we should all try to do daily.

Take a moment to think about it; remember one thought can change everything!

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – Shake It Off!

From the ages of 7 to 23, I played softball, slow pitch, and women’s fastball.  I had the time of my life; the only thing that I would dream of at that time, was hoping for the possibility to be able to pursue women’s sports professionally.  Back in those days, there were no professional women’s sports.  You could only play recreational.

Times have changed.

I learned so much playing this sport, but the one thing that stands out in my mind is my Dad.  My Dad was a baseball fan!  He would attend every game I had!  I was the Pitcher in baseball, so I felt the pressure to be my best, but the teams I was fortunate to be on, worked with such chemistry – we were a well oiled machine!

Being a Pitcher, I would occasionally receive the gift of a line-drive to the ankle; those did not tickle.  The odd time, it would bring me to my knees, and I would be helped off the field.  One time, the pain was so bad, my coach thought I may have broken something and urged my Dad to drive me to the hospital.  They helped me into the vehicle, my Dad drove around the block and said, “shake it off!!”, and then before I knew it I was back on the field.

The funny thing is, is that when he told me to, “shake it off”, I wasn’t sure if it was the shock of the pain, or the shock of hearing him say that, but regardless it worked!  I learned very quickly the power of mind over matter!

We all go through physical pain at times in our lives, but since experiencing the “shake it off” episode, I have found myself applying that technique to when I find myself in pain.  I giggle every time this happens, because to my disbelief, it constantly works and never lets me down.

Don’t get me wrong, depending on the severity of the pain, at the very least, my mind will start controlling how the rest of my body reacts to it, which then makes it more manageable.

The brain will constantly surprise us; it is learning to control how we use it for the better.  In those three words, “shake it off”, taught my brain a lesson that day!  One I will never forget.

The Good Vibes Only Roadshow – The Gossip In The Group!

We’ve all known one or two in our lives, you know, the gossip in the group!  They like to change a true story into something that suits them, they like to degrade someone one minute, while being loyal to them the next, and they will tell your secrets to just about anyone when in fact, they told you they would honor your confidence.  You know how it goes!

I’m here to change the whole perspective on how we look at these individuals who like to Gossip!

Many years ago, I used to let these people get under my skin, which would then cause me nothing but stress and anxiety.  The question would be, “how could they do this to me?”  Then it dawned on me – they are suffering themselves.

I have known many gossips in my life and in fact, I still do, but the difference today is that I have compassion for them.  Gossips struggle with so many things in life, it isn’t even funny.  Low self-esteem, low drive, low self-worth, and low just about everything else in life.  Most have been emotionally abused and have not been introduced to ways of helping themselves.

Gossips love the company in their misery.  To be honest, why wouldn’t they want company, as they are lonely.  They are lonely in their pain and emotional suffering.  Gossiping is all they know to bring them some form of comfort.

I find it very sad, at times, that certain Gossips cannot stop; it is their addiction.

I live my life showing compassion and empathy to Gossips; they haven’t found their right path yet.  I have hope that one day they will, so their actions can stop hurting people, especially the people they are supposed to love the most in their lives.  Little do they know, most people are savvy to Gossips; they know half the words that come out of their mouths are not true.

With sharing positive acts of kindness to these individuals, may help trigger something in their minds to tell them, “okay, maybe it is time to stop all this negativity and focus on something good.”

It takes a Village to raise a family and to support someone; we all need to share this mentality with the Gossips who cause some form of emotional harm to another.  It will take a Village to help them change, help them to forgive themselves, and to help them be free.
